いけばなは、日本の長い歴史の中で育まれてきた文化であり、
自然の姿に心を寄せ、その命の流れを器の中に表すものです。
野に咲く花、庭に咲く花。
それらを美しいと感じる心は、国や文化を越えて共通しています。
自然を慈しみ、花と静かに向き合う時間は、
日々の中に小さな余白と深い安らぎをもたらします。
私は京都に生まれ、兵庫県の自然豊かな土地で育ちました。
曽祖父母の代より祖母、母と受け継がれてきた花のある暮らしの中で、
いけばなを学び始めてから二十余年。
今もなお、花と向き合う時間に尽きることのない魅力を感じています。
Keiko Ikebana Studioでは、
京都市北区・わら天神宮の静かな和室にて行うレギュラークラス、
そして海外から京都を訪れる方のための
「Ikebana Immersion Kyoto」をご用意しています。
経験の有無を問わず、
花に触れ、自然を感じ、
自分自身に戻る時間を過ごしていただければ幸いです。

A Quiet Moment with Flowers, from Kyoto
In a quiet space in Kyoto,
I offer moments to gently face flowers and yourself.
Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art form cultivated over centuries.
It is a practice of listening to nature, respecting the original life and movement of each plant, and expressing that living presence within a vessel.
Flowers that bloom in the fields,
flowers that grow in the garden —
the feeling that they are beautiful is shared across cultures and borders.
To appreciate nature and spend time in stillness with flowers
brings a sense of space, calm, and quiet clarity into daily life.
I was born in Kyoto and raised in the nature-rich landscapes of Hyogo.
In a family where flowers have been part of everyday life since my great-grandparents’ generation,
I began studying ikebana in my twenties.
More than two decades later, the time I spend with flowers continues to reveal a depth and beauty that never fades.
At Keiko Ikebana Studio,
I offer regular classes held in a serene tatami room at Waratenjin Shrine in northern Kyoto,
as well as “Ikebana Immersion Kyoto” for those visiting from abroad.
No prior experience is necessary.
Whether you are new to ikebana or already familiar with flowers,
you are warmly welcome to experience a quiet moment of connection with nature — and with yourself.

プロフィール
京都生まれ、兵庫県育ち。
同志社女子大学大学院 文学研究科英語英文学専攻 博士前期課程修了。
2001年にいけばな嵯峨御流に入門し、2005年師範取得。
家族の代より受け継がれてきた花のある暮らしの中で研鑽を重ね、
現在は京都を拠点にいけばなの指導と制作を行う。
京都ブライトンホテル懐石料理「蛍」での挿花、
四天王寺舞楽協会（国指定重要文化財）の持ち花・冠花制作、
マルタ共和国大使館での挿花など、
寺社・文化・国際的な場での活動を重ねてきた。
大学・短期大学での講師経験、
海外華展・国際イベントでの出展や通訳ガイドも務める。
2024年 Keiko Ikebana Studio 開業。
京都・わら天神宮にていけばな教室を主宰し、
国内外に向けて日本のいけばな文化を伝えている。
Profile
Keiko Ota was born in Kyoto and raised in the nature-rich region of Hyogo, Japan.
She began studying ikebana in the Saga Goryu tradition in 2001 and received her teaching certification in 2005.
Rooted in a family tradition of living with flowers across generations, she has devoted over two decades to the practice and study of ikebana.
Her work has been presented in a range of cultural and international settings, including floral arrangements for traditional kaiseki at the Kyoto Brighton Hotel, ceremonial floral pieces for the Shitennoji Bugaku Association — a nationally designated Important Intangible Cultural Heritage — and arrangements at the Embassy of the Republic of Malta in Japan.
In addition to her artistic practice, she has taught ikebana and floral design at educational institutions in Kyoto and Osaka, and has participated in international exhibitions and cultural events, including the Melbourne Ikebana Festival and the Ikebana International World Convention in Kyoto, where she also served as a cultural guide and interpreter at Daikaku-ji Temple, the birthplace of Saga Goryu ikebana.
In 2024, she founded Keiko Ikebana Studio in Kyoto.
From a quiet tatami space at Waratenjin Shrine, she offers regular classes as well as private cultural immersions for international guests, sharing the philosophy and refined aesthetics of Japanese ikebana in an intimate and contemplative setting.
